Landslide: A Study From NH-7

Abstract

Uttarakhand is a hilly state of Himalayan region. Geologically rock structures of Uttarakhand are very complex. This state receives heavy rains due to changing climate since last few years due to which new landslides activate and resulted into loss of lives and properties. Present landslide study has been undertaken near Nandprayag on NH-7. This landslide occurred on 5th February, 2020 during widening of NH-7, in which 5 houses, 3 vehicles and electric lines were destroyed, besides some portions of NH-7 was also destroyed. Kinematic analysis has been used in this study in which planar and wedge failure has been observed. Precautionary measures have also been suggested for this landslide.
